Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant request in the amount of $2,500 to Little Birds of the Fields in Sauk Village, IL. The grant request was submitted by Bhavna Patel, AWG Great Lakes employee.
Little Birds of the Fields is a local food pantry established as a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic. They began operation in April 2020 and have provided more than 250,000 pounds of food as of the end of 2020, averaging 200 families per week. In 2021, they were able to provide between 12,000 – 15,000 pounds of food per week to their patrons and they have been able to increase the number of families served each week to more than 250 over the year and continue to feed their patrons for the future.
