Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant award in the amount of $3,000 to Lexington Community Foundation in Lexington, NE. The grant request was submitted by Colleen Burgett, a Nebraska Division Support Center teammate.

The mission of the Lexington Community Foundation is to inspire generosity to strengthen their community. They’re working with the Lexington Optimist Club and local food pantries to launch a food drive to support families impacted by the recent closure of the Tyson beef processing plant in Lexington, Nebraska. With nearly 5,000 jobs lost in a town of about 11,000 residents, the economic impact has been severe, leaving many families facing sudden unemployment and difficult transitions. Grant funding will help purchase and distribute nutritious food to ensure reliable access during this uncertain time. While the long‑term future of the community is still unknown, immediate food security is critical to reducing stress and stabilizing households. This coordinated effort aims to meet basic needs and uphold dignity as families work toward recovery.

Thank you, Colleen, for donating to AWG Cares and submitting this grant request!
