Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant in the amount of $3,000 to Catholic Charities in St. Cloud, MN. The grant request was submitted by Joe Harris, AWG Upper Midwest Division Support Center employee.
Catholic Charities Emergency Services helps individuals experiencing emergency situations by providing food, basic everyday essentials and financial assistance in a compassionate, respectful and dignified manner. This generous gift will help Catholic Charities Food Shelf in purchasing a new food rescue truck, as their current truck is not at dock level height and is in disrepair.
Their food rescue drivers play a crucial role in providing healthy, fresh food to their customers by picking up donated food from local food service retailers every day. The food donated is no longer able to be sold at the retailer for various reasons, but is still safe to consume. Their food rescue program saves thousands of pounds of food from being wasted in a landfill every day.
