Kansas City, Kan. and Battle Creek, Mich. – October 23, 2024 – Being part of a local community means making a positive impact and giving back. Tony the Tiger® and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® Mission Tiger teamed up with Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG) to donate $55,000 through DonorsChoose. This donation supports middle school sports at schools like Northeast Middle School, helping kids stay active.

Since 2019, Tony the Tiger and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes have embarked on a mission to give more kids access to the benefits of sports with the launch of Mission Tiger, an initiative to help save middle schools sports. Now, AWG and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes joined forces to bring the mission to Kansas City and other cities by helping fund the purchase of new sports equipment, upgrade facilities, and buy new uniforms for middle school sports programs.

“We’re thrilled to partner with AWG to bring the excitement of sports to middle schools in the 33 states that AWG services, including Northeast Middle School,” said Michael Browne, VP Grocery at WK Kellogg Co. “At Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, alongside our iconic mascot Tony the Tiger, we’re on a mission to ensure that every child not only has the resources they need but also has the opportunity to play like a tiger. Because at the heart of it all, we believe in unleashing their full potential while having a whole lot of fun on the field!”

“We’re happy to partner with WK Kellogg Co. in this campaign to support middle school sports in each of our division support center communities,” said Lori Turner, Chair of AWG Cares, AWG’s employee charitable foundation. “The work our teammates do through AWG Cares is truly meaningful, and on behalf of our member retailers, it’s an honor to amplify that impact by partnering with companies like WK Kellogg Co. that share our commitment to making a difference.”

Since its inception in 2019, Mission Tiger has partnered with DonorsChoose to create almost 2 million sports and play experiences for kids – providing new equipment, court renovations, sports facility refurbishments and more to over 3,000 schools.
